Raven's Moon

Your Path to Self-Discovery!

i just thought i would share my thoughts about books that teach wicca or anything you want...
scott cunningham is a very good author and very simply tells you the base to form your own path in any pagan craft. i highly recomend all of his books to any new practitioner... then comes christopher penzack... each book in his series is a year and a day long proccess. and me reading them, i thought there were really well written and a good guide for any solitary practitioner entering into wicca... i highly recomend reading both series together...

thanks for reading this
blessed be.

Scott Cunningham and Christopher Penczak are 2 of my favorites. I highly recommend the Witche's Shield for everyone - its a great book and learning to protect yourself should always be what you learn first! =)

the hotter your magickal fire gets the more etherals and elementals you attract... and you need to know how to protect yourself... its really good when you learn how to use your element's abilities... like mine is air... when i attuned with my spirit guides and my higher and lower selves answers and wisdom naturally started comming to me. i knew things that i didnt even know i knew. i could answer questions that i could never... im gonna start a new thread discussion on this topic...

I've heard mixed reviews on Silver Ravenwolf.. I'm really interested in learning all that I can. I've looked at a lot of places online, but in my opinion, there's nothing better than books. (I'm a bit of a nerd). Anyway.. is Silver Ravenwolf an author to turn to?

she is... ok.. To Ride a Silver Broomstick kind of jumps around in difficulty... i started out with her. a lot of the exercises moved to quick for me... it fluctuated in difficulty, attunement, and recipes... i found it best to read scott cunningham's beginers guide to wicca and guide for living wicca. id read those two first. then go for the first 4 chapters in silver broomstick... then go to christopher penzacks inner temple... read all of that... read the next 3 chapters in broomstick... and read through exercise 8 in Penzacks Outter temple... then finish silver broomstick... Silver Ravenwolf compliments Christopher Penzack and Scott Cunningham

The concepts that Silver Teaches are fairly solid, but her methods at time are a bit fluffy. She writes mainly for a teen crowd and its very evident in her books. Some of her more recent books are a bit better - her book and Angel magick is excellent and I highly recommend it. Her other books are so so - the exercises are ok, just remember she is writting for teens and some of her work tends to be a bit childish. The principles she teaches, however are correct.

Like Trevor - I prefer the Scott Cunningham and Christopher Penczak books - they are written more towards the adult crowd and the tone of the books are less fluffy and more practical.

I also like Scott Cunningham and Christopher Penzack books I have other authors but I refer most to them and the newest one that I have is a great book isSolitary Wicca for Life A complete guide to mastering the Craft on your own. I find it easier to talk to newer wiccans about this book when it comes to grounding and centering and such
