Raven's Moon

Your Path to Self-Discovery!

We had a good Solstice celebration inspite of the fact that I was on midnight shift and we had to have it in the afternoon. Since I still haven't decided on an outside alter yet we used and old wooden box. It turned out pretty good I think.

I had lot of fun making the burning man. I used honeysuckle freshly harvested from the flowerbed and shrub it is over taking to tie him together. Then I filled his sunny yellow robe with dried flowers, herbs and oak chips and tied it closed with more honeysuckle. Poor guy didn't have a face but I figured I didn't want to get to attached since he was heading for the bbq pit!

Everytime you get cocky it seems life likes to smack you down to remind you take things easy. I was better, and decided to go out and pickup all my boxes from the Post Office yesterday. A friend was supposed to come over and help me unload and he didn't have time - so I thought - I can do it! Yeah - I did it, its all unloaded and now I can't walk again lol!

What an awesome altar! It looks wonderful! This year I had plans to celebrate the sabbat with a solitary ritual but then I threw my back out when I was unloading the car and ended up in bed for a week lol! So I missed it! I am glad you had a good celebration! =)

Thank you Hawkeye Greywolf. I work swingshift so it always seems like I'm trying to hurry or celebrating alone so I usually don't make a fuss. I think this one turned out pretty good considering I had worked all night.

MM Raven's Song,
DarkRaven posted the Burning Man info in the Sabbats Group. I used the ritual from the Free Ritual Guides link (you can find it on the right hand side of the page just above the Moon phases). I just substituted the Burning Man for the cloth pouch filled with herbs. The Burning Man represents the Sun God/Oak King as the waning of the year begins.
As far as alters go mine changes with the seasons and what I am doing but the basics are usually there. Most of the books I have give the basic layout and significance of each item found on an alter.

RubyDragonMoon,
Sorry, I'm still learning about Wicca, I have a question as to why is there a 'burning man' as you put it, on your altar and why is he to be burned? Also, can [anyone] explain to me all the things an altar contains and their significance? I have not been able to find sufficient literature to teach me these things... I appreciate your help,
Yours Greatfully,
Raven's Song.
