Raven's Moon

Your Path to Self-Discovery!

We had a great Samhain Celebration. Unfortunately with work schedules we couldn't take the 3 days we had to do everything in one night. My day started right after work at 7am with cooking! Sabbat is a lot of work ya know!LOL I started off baking blueberry and raspberry muffins while they were baking I stirred up the pumpkin pie. I had cooked a pumpkin the day before and cheated on the crust bought Pillsbury it's just as good as mine and much faster for those days when you have worked all night!LOL While the pie baked I cooked bacon and an omelet to go with the muffins for brunch. Then I rolled out the noodles, put the roast in the slow cooker and scratched potatoes and set in the frig. for later. Then it was time to write the ritual. I am not very good at this yet so I look at ones I like at work them around to make them fit me. Finally it's 4pm and I'm beat so off to bed with me. Wouldn't you know I was so hyped up I couldn't sleep. I forced myself to stay in bed and rest until 7pm. Then it was up and at'em. I had to set the alter we used an old wooden table that is the first piece of store bought furniture in Duane's family. Lots of Scottish history in that table. He used a shadow box he made of his Father who passed many years ago and I used the little Celtic skull as my link to the ancestors. I finished up the cooking I cheated on the corn and peas they were frozen LOL Then we lit the candles out on the front porch to light the way for the ancestors and set the table with an extra place for the ancestors (this plate of food was left as an offering after the ritual) I said the blessing and then we ate. At about 10:30pm we went outside and lit the fire pit and drank herbal tea and listened to Celtic Tribal music (Albannach see earlier blog for link) At midnight we started the ritual. I was really glad Duane got to be there I usually am alone for that part of the Sabbat. We finished up about 2:00am and then brought everything inside and had pie. I was about froze!LOL I didn't look at the temp. but I know it was down in the 30's.

Duane carved the pumpkins you can't see them very well in the picture but he did a great job! The one on the ground is a funkin and has a crescent moon with a bat flying across it and the one on the porch is a tombstone with a bat flying across it. Yep he's a bat person or maybe just a little batty!LOL Oh and Doug his skull has a new candle just for Samhain!
